Business Chinese – A

This course is for

Businesspeople who can conduct a basic conversation in Chinese, or students who have completed Level C of the Spoken Chinese stream.

Duration

Regular course: 30 weeks.
Intensive course: 15 weeks.

Course structure and goals

The aim of the course is to give students the skills to express themselves in Chinese dialog for business purposes. Each lesson consists of 20 sentences that are essential to business negotiations, substitution drills, short dialogs and new words.
The course is specially designed for foreigners doing business in China and includes some practical expressions in international business and trade.
Homework assignments are given every week, as well as a list of new words learnt in class. The class meets once a week and students are required to complete homework assignments sent by the teacher after each lesson.

At the end of the course the student will

• Have acquired the vocabulary necessary to conduct business dialog. Understand Chinese rules of etiquette during business negotiations, and be able to role-play according to these rules.
• Be able to conduct preliminary business talks in Chinese to improve business relations.
• Have a significant head start in their business dealings in China, and possess the ability to work in a Chinese-speaking environment.
